Questions, answered.
The things people ask us most before buying a container or cabin.
Buying
What container sizes do you sell?
We list 10, 20, 30, 40 and 45 ft containers, in standard and high cube (an extra foot of height), plus reefers, open tops, open sides, flat racks, site cabins and accessories. If you need a size you can't see, ask us.
What is the difference between new and used containers?
New containers, often called one-trip containers, have carried a single load from the factory and look close to new. Used containers have been in service for some years and show it, but are sold wind and watertight. Used units are good value for storage and conversions.
Can I see a container before I buy it?
Yes. You are welcome at our yard at A 249 Veni Yeni Road, Umlazi, Durban. If you can't visit, we'll send photos or a video of the actual unit.
Can you modify a container for me?
Yes. Common jobs include site offices, extra doors and windows, shelving, insulation and electrics. Tell us what the space is for and we'll quote the work alongside the unit.
How do I pay?
After you order or request a quote, we confirm the unit and delivery price in writing and send banking details for EFT. The unit is released for delivery once payment clears.
Delivery
Do you deliver nationwide?
Yes, to all nine provinces. Delivery is priced on distance from our Durban yard and how easy your site is to reach, and it is confirmed in your quote before you pay.
How should I prepare my site for delivery?
You need level, firm ground. A gravel or concrete pad is best. Make sure a truck can reach the spot, with room to manoeuvre and no low cables or branches overhead, and that the ground isn't waterlogged on the day.
On site
Do I need a permit for a container on my property?
It depends on your municipality. Temporary storage often needs nothing, but permanent placement or a converted unit may need building plan approval. Check with your local council before delivery.
Can containers be stacked?
Yes. Containers are built to stack at sea, but on land keep it modest and on a proper foundation. Some site cabins in our range are marked as stackable with units of the same size.
